Through interviews with the owners of Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay, we found that this Homestay has its own uniqueness and is perfectly built so that this homestay can meet the needs of customers and will influence customer choices. Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay provides many types or homestay units in one area. Each house in Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay has a different name, which will make it easier for customers to identify the house they have booked without confusion. Usually, a homestay will be established with only one house, but Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay has several houses that are used as homestays in one area. Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay builds rooms with a village atmosphere concept and walls that are patterned with the beauty of nature, so customers can not only enjoy the beauty of nature outside the home area, but in the room they will also feel the beauty of nature and the peaceful view of the room. Rooms at Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay provide basic equipment such as air conditioning so that customer comfort is guaranteed because there are customers from the city who are used to living an air-conditioned life, so the existence of air conditioning can attract customer choices because this homestay has followed the times, although the homestay has a classic concept, coin-operated fans are also provided, so customers can use both. This homestay also provides basic necessities such as towels to customers, in the room there are also tables and wooden furniture to maintain the classic concept and the atmosphere of the village and mirrors are also provided because mirrors are also important furniture for customers. In each room there is a toilet and a water heater is also provided. Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay also offers homestays with modern themes and a mixture of classics. Therefore, the facilities offered in the homestay depend on the type of homestay because there are low-priced homestays to expensive homestays or known as VIP Homestays. Therefore, each homestay available at Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay will be offered facilities based on the price of the homestay. For Homestays located in the back area and near the hill, it shows that the toilet wall for the homestay has been designed with an extension by the hill itself, it is very amazing. Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay also provides a kitchen and living room in its homestay and there are homestays that have a pool depending on the type of homestay unit. The homestay also provides basic kitchen utensils or equipment for customer use. Based on the visit, we found that the outside area of the homestay was clean because the Kampung Ujung Bukit homestay provided cleaning services by an employee, but the Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay experienced problems with cleanliness in the homestay because this homestay received comments from customers, namely smelly mattress covers and pillows, a large number of ant nests in the bedroom, a broken water heater, and unclean toilets, as well as homestays that had minor damage such as broken windows and the like. There were also customers who commented that the Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay was a beautiful homestay and customers were satisfied. This is because there were too many homestays built in one area, indirectly there were several homestays that were well maintained, but there were several homestays that were not well maintained so that there were some damages that the owners did not notice. There are also have open stages that are not clean and neglected and abandoned homestay exhibition areas. Therefore, I believe that there are still homestays that can meet the needs and satisfaction of customers, and there are also several homestay units that need to be repaired to meet the needs and satisfaction of customers.
There are several steps
that need to be taken by the owner to improve the quality of the Kampung Ujung
Bukit Homestay service offering. For the issue of damaged facilities, they need
to be more sensitive and conduct periodic inspections of each homestay unit
every month and use an audit form related to the facilities in order to be able
to record facilities that have minor or critical damage. If the existing staff
is not enough, he as the owner can appoint several technical supervisors who
are always aware of the condition of the homestay facilities and it is also
important to appoint a worker who is skilled in making repairs indirectly so
that the facilities complained about by customers can be resolved immediately
without having to take a long time to get a worker who can repair them. The
owner can also provide a sticker with a QR code on each homestay unit so that
any damage that is overlooked can be reported directly to the homestay so that
it is known faster and can act immediately. The issue of poor internal
cleanliness needs to be emphasized by homestay owners by improving internal
cleanliness standards such as increasing the number of workers in the cleaning
department inside the house unit and I suggest that weekly sanitation
activities be carried out regularly using insect spray because there are
customers who have complained about insect problems in the room due to the area
being close to the hill and so on. This action indirectly helps reduce the
presence of excessive insects. Fabric sanitation of mattress and pillow covers
also needs to be carried out regularly to always ensure cleanliness and a
pleasant smell for customers and the use of a cleaning checklist system also
has the potential to help cleaning workers be more sensitive and avoid overlooking
cleaning work. Problems encountered in the toilet can use initiatives such as
using air fresheners and cleaning the toilet regularly using antibacterial soap
to ensure cleanliness and improve toilet freshness. Related issues are several
homestay units that have been neglected to the point of minor damage and poor
cleanliness, it is necessary to act by reclassifying units such as classifying
active units and units that need to be temporarily closed for repairs.
