VISITED HOMESTAY KAMPUNG UJUNG BUKIT, KANGAR, PERLIS.
Chapter 6: Week 10 (28 May 2025)
The diagram shows all the group members who attended the Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay, which was chosen as our study location. The full presence of all group members enabled us to conduct observations and collect more in-depth information regarding the homestay. In addition, it provided a very meaningful hands-on learning experience regarding the concept of homestay and community-based tourism. The presence of all group members also ensured that various points of view could be explored through active participation such as taking notes, conducting interviews and making photographic documentation. In addition, the division of tasks could also be done more systematically when each member focused on specific aspects such as facilities, customer experience, and physical environment, thus improving the quality and accuracy of our findings.
All group members played their respective roles according to the initial plan. The five of us interviewed homestay operators to obtain information regarding their operations and the challenges they faced after which we also asked several questions to the homestay owners regarding promotions, prices, locations, products and the physical appearance of the homestay. After that, we visited the homestay area to take photos and videos as important documentation for our report. Collaboration and clear division of tasks made the data collection process more organized and comprehensive. All this information collected allowed us to analyze from various angles and produce a more robust report.
After the interview with the owner, we went to visit the very spacious and beautiful homestay area. We walked around the homestay area to see all the homestay units in Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay and we also saw that the hall and stage that were once beautiful now looked like they were not well maintained. During the visit, we also saw that there were several things that needed to be repaired to further beautify the homestay area so that it could attract more tourists to come to this homestay.
Throughout the visit, we conducted comprehensive documentation to record all important information obtained. This documentation included video recordings, taking photos of the area around the homestay, the facilities provided at the homestay, as well as our interactions with the homestay operators. Several group members also took detailed field notes to record information from the interview and observation sessions. All of the documentation obtained was very helpful to us in preparing a report related to the homestay we chose, and even served as a useful reference during the data compilation and analysis process. Through this method, we were able to ensure that all information collected was accurate, valid, and complete.
In conclusion, the visit to Kampung Ujung Bukit Homestay provided a valuable experience for the five of us. This visit really helped us to complete the assigned tasks very well and efficiently. It even helped us to get very detailed and comprehensive information. The full presence of each group member made this visit more meaningful because we were able to work as a team contributing energy and ideas throughout this process.
